What Does Classic Country Music Mean To You?
Perhaps the most raw, innocent music is felt through the country genre. For decades, people have listened to the sweet harmonies of country music for different reasons. Some want to hear the stripped innocence of the acoustic sounds, while others want to be transported back to a time, particularly one that the song is speaking of. Country music has a way of drawing people into the lyrics, while using the compositions as a backdrop. While many people feel that country is meant to be listened only by “southerners”, people all over the world have come to appreciate the simplicity and incorruptibility of country music. Many artists have attempted and succeeded to bring the country genre back into mainstream music. Some of these artists include Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and Rascal Flatts. Classic country music dates back, even reaching Elvis Presley, who actually started his successful career singing country. It is ironic to think that the “King of Rock” started out singing country music, but it is what fueled his singing career.
Classic country music is meant to not only be listened to, but understood. The stripped lyrics and music are what make country the phenomenal genre it is.
